Congratulations on your balloons! Here's everything you need to know to make them float as long as possible – and look their best for the party.

First step: check the balloons

Inspect the balloons as soon as they are delivered to ensure everything is in order. Is something wrong? Send us an email with a photo to hei@ballonglevering.no as quickly as possible, and we will sort it out.

The ribbons may tangle a bit during transport – this is completely normal, and they are easy to separate.

Bag or box?

  • Delivered in a plastic bag: Remove the balloons as soon as possible and let them hang freely at room temperature. Keep the bag for later transport.
  • Delivered in a cardboard box: The box protects against sun, dust, and drafts, so the balloons can stay here longer – feel free to keep them in the box until the party if you received them in advance.

How long do the balloons float?

It depends on the type of balloon:

  • Latex balloons with helium are treated by us for extra float time and float for at least 2–3 days after delivery – often longer indoors at a consistent temperature.
  • Foil balloons with helium typically float for 5–7 days, often much longer. They can also be refilled – contact us if the balloon starts to sag.
  • Air-filled balloons – balloon columns, balloon arches, garlands, and table decorations without helium – retain their shape for several weeks.

Temperature and sun

Store the balloons at room temperature. Helium expands in heat and shrinks in cold – if the balloon looks deflated after being out in the cold, bring it back to room temperature, and it will usually recover. Avoid very hot places like a sun-baked car: the balloon may burst.

The balloons are fine in sunlight, but latex gradually becomes matte in direct sun. Many actually find the matte look more appealing! If you want the matte effect immediately, you can use a hairdryer on low heat – but be careful, the balloon may burst.

Transport by car

The balloons are fine in the trunk. If you need to transport them further – the same day or the day after delivery – pack them back into the bag or box they came in, right before you leave. From a bag, they should be taken out as soon as you arrive: preferably no more than 2–3 hours in the bag at a time, as too much time in the bag shortens the float time.

On hot days: cool down the car with air conditioning before bringing the balloons in. And keep them away from sharp edges.

Placement and safety

  • The balloons are for decoration, not as toys. Children should not play with balloons unsupervised – pieces of burst latex balloons are a choking hazard for small children.
  • Keep balloons away from pets. They can get tangled in the ribbons or ingest pieces of burst balloons.
  • Static electricity, hot lamps, rough walls, and sharp edges can cause balloons to burst – give them some clearance.
  • Do not inhale helium. It displaces oxygen and can make you dizzy.
  • Never release balloons into nature. Dispose of used balloons in general waste.
